I am so getting an iPhone. I'm an early adopter, don't you know?

I know this is not hockey related in any way, but I am going to get an iPhone. From the moment I saw it introduced in the keynote address back in whatever month that was, I have longed for it. And yes, I sat there and watched the entire 2 hour presentation on it! Drooling!

So tomorrow, on my one day off this week, I will make the trek to my local Apple store and plunk down a hell of a lot of money for this fantastic little gadget. Although, by proclaiming my plan, I am sure I will totally jinx it and they will be all out of them.

I'll keep you posted.

And thanks to Apple and AT&T for finally releasing what the service plans will be. A girl needs to know these things before she gets to the store. And thanks too for letting me activate it at home using iTunes. What? Yep, the future has arrived and we can activate our phones through our computers!

July 1st better get here quick!

Is there any period of time in the season that is more boring than this week between the draft and free agency? Even the NHL and TSN websites are still serving up day old draft news like leftover turkey.

So I am fast forwarding through Daily News Live today, and strangely enough, they actually have a hockey segment (rare). So I watch it of course.

These guys were working with air, filament and pixie dust to talk about the Flyers for ten minutes. They had nothing! We know what all the speculation is already! If you don't have any actual news to report, I don't need to see this segment! And ten minutes? Unnecessary. I bet they won't even do ten minutes on July 1st!

I normally love Al Morganti and the gang, but Al was utterly inarticulate. Although he did have a good one liner when asked, "what state are the Flyers in right now?" and he answered "Pennsylvania." But that was the highlight, honest to god. That, and he got his hair cut and looks 4.5 years younger. But I digress...

It must have been a slow news day for the Phillies and the Eagles I guess...

I hope we don't have to call him "the reamer"

Well, we picked our guy. I have a few concerns:

1) He had trouble putting his jersey on. Now I'm no expert at putting on a hockey jersey, but to me, you put one arm in, the other arm in, and then pop your head through the head hole. This character tried to put it on all at once and ended up all tangled up and gangly looking. Sheesh. Put it on like you've done it before buddy!

2) I heard one news organization call him "the reamer". Um, sorry, but I am pretty sure that nickname is taken by a porn star. Choose again.

3) He is from New Jersey, and is a Devils fan. Can he be trusted?

4) Not entirely related, but does Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren have a pulse? I'm down with the poker face guy, but cmon, get a little excited about stuff! (Great job in the offseason so far, btw!)

Singing the Praises of the Washington Capitals!

Okay, I didn't win the first annual blogger playoff pool. But I didn't come in last. I was smack dab in the middle of the pack! And I did it all without even playing in the last round! Sweet! Take that, overacheivers! Wait, that doesn't make sense.

It does chap my hide that Margee came in just ahead of me, but let's face it, she has been doing this whole hockey thing a lot longer than I have. But what the heck happened to Jordi? I think she must have given up after her embarrassing first round loss/humiliation. Poor Jordi, if it wasn't for bad luck she'd have no luck at all.

So here are my top 7 reasons the Capitals are great:

1) They are not the Penguins.

2) They did not sweep us this year, and for that I really love them! Oh wait, they did sweep us, it's just that we only play four games against them so it didn't feel quite so brutal. Ack!

3) Their AHL team is the Bears, arch rivals to my Phantoms, but I love that because those are great games to watch!

4) Ovechkin....Ov course!

5) They are going back to their old school colors this season! Yes!

6) Their chairman and owner, Ted Leonsis, is way cool, as evidenced by his interview with CapsChick.

7) They are not the Devils.

I was really hoping to come up with more than seven things, but oh well!

Did you miss me?

Yeah, you didn't even notice I was gone. I was away for a few days, on a SuperSecret Mission to dog nap Grace the Norfolk Terrier. My plans however were thwarted by Sophie the Black Lab (pictured below).

Sophie welcomed me into her abode in Eastern Connecticut, home to my crazy ass family. I was there for my sister's wedding shower. Ack! I swear to god that after the wedding in August, I am not going back there anymore! Except Sophie and her henchmen Kenmore and Chuck are just too darn cute to resist. (Kenmore and Chuck guard the window so I can't escape...) (Drooling is what black labs do best...also, this is the only time she was sitting still enough for me to get a picture. No cute outfits for her!)

Consider yourself lucky Grace, that Sophie was looking out for you!

Off to add totally belated comments to all the posts I missed in the 3 days away from my computer!

Berube is back!

Last year, Craig Berube coached the Phantoms for six games before being tapped to be the Flyers assistant coach. Berube had a 3-2-1 record and I imagine if I check the stats or hockeyfights.com, I would find some good scrums in those games. Berube is a fighter, not a lover.

Berube was replaced by Kjell Samuelsson. Kjell is a nice guy. He has very many good qualities about him. He is very tall, I like that in a hockey guy. He is Swedish...I have nothing against the Swedes, as far as I know. But he discourages fighting. I like fighting. It's part (most) of the reason I like the AHL. In the AHL, things are a little looser and a little crazier. The fighting is part of that.

Yesterday, Craig Berube was named head coach of the Phantoms. Kjell was bumped down to assistant. I am gonna call and renew my tickets tomorrow. (yes, there was some doubt as to whether or not I was going to get the full season plan...)

P.S. I just checked the stats: there were more fighting majors in Berube's six games than in Kjell's first 16 as coach. Ouch! No wonder it seemed like the season was boring after October!
