Oh happy day!

Am I happy that the Habs won? You bet I am.

More importantly though, I am ecstatic that the Penguins lost. For me, a Pens loss is even better than a Flyers win. I am taking the Pensblogs' advice and "basking in their defeat."

I'm basking, baby!

I hate watching Pens games.

ghey.

Seriously, this game gave me about 3 heart attacks and a stroke. I can't take it.

Is Giroux ever going to score again? I can count on my fingers and toes the number of wide open nets he's seen over the last 4 games, and he never gets it in. Very frustrating. I'm thinking maybe his girlfriend feels the same way.

Flyers fans are on cloud nine, Pens fans are suicidal. No need for either. Did you see the game? Yeah, Flyers won, but Pens seemed to have better sustained offensive pressure. Or is that just my hockey pessimist talking? The Pens are good...really good, even in the midst of their losing streak, and we were lucky to come away with a win.

Leighton continues to come up big when he needs to, even though he still makes us all very nervous.

That's all I've got.

Oh, also: Jaro Jaro Jaro!

You can't win em all.

I'm not gonna lie, The Pronger's water ritual during warmups is the highlight of the game.

The honeymoon is over.

Ryan Parent is this year's Randy Jones.

What the hell was wrong with Coburn?

What the hell was wrong with the D?

The Pronger hulking out on Kunitz was my favorite part of the game.

Can someone really bite you through a hockey glove?

Thank god I don't have season tickets this year...clunkers like this game make me really appreciate that!

Zippy is home and recovering. He has a Gator smile now!

When is the next time we play the Pens? I will have to make sure I schedule myself to work!

That's more like it! I'm familiar with this feeling. Looking forward to the Hartnell suspension!

Oh good, the Pens. We are so great at beating them.

Clicking my remote into the wee hours of the morning brought me a little gem: Sudden Death was on last night. You know, the one where Iceburgh gets killed? I'm not gonna do any voodoo rituals on my stuffed Iceburgh today, because that hardly ever results in a win for the Flyers.

The Pens lost last night to the Coyotes, and if you saw them play, you know that they were just saving their energy for tonight's game. They even started Brent Johnson to give Lil flower some rest.

I hope to be at the game tonight. I have great seats in section 207 row 1. Nobody in front of me! My cat is having surgery today, and depending on how well he recovers, I may have to stay here and comfort him. So keep Zippy and me in your thoughts today, and send us good vibes so he'll be fine and I can go to the game.

I had to get up at 6 am on Sunday to work 7-1 and then go to the game!

So you Flyers are lucky that was a good game, or I would be pissed.

I'm amazed that the crowd was so into it. I was apparently the only person who had no hope for a win (or even a good effort). I was pleasantly surprised.

I came home and watched the game on TV (weird, I know) and was amazed at how Pierre McGuire has the biggest boner for the Pens. But then I read the Pensblog, and they were pissed at how McGuire has a boner for Mike Richards. Amazing how two different fan bases can hate McGuire so much, but about the exact opposite thing. Honestly though, if you think the NBC broadcast had bias towards the Flyers, you are either retarded or deaf (no offense to either group). Seriously, NBC's job is to sing the praises of the annointed one and his team, no matter what.

I still hold no delusions that the Flyers can win this series, or even another game, but it was nice to be rewarded for getting up at the asscrack of dawn.

Also:
  • I bet 4 out of 5 Flyers fans have a Giroux jersey by the end of the week.
  • I do a lot of hockey card shopping on ebay (*cough* Kovalev *cough*) and I can tell you that Giroux cards today were going for 30 bucks and up. No lie. Check it yourself!
  • I really need to get to sleep now!
  • I think the Luden's are causing my tonsils to swell.
  • I am so glad the Habs are not playing the Flyers. I would have gotten killed for wearing a Habs shirt.
  • Oh Jared Ross...sorry about what I said about you earlier in the week. My bad.
Also, a quick word on penalties. Um. Hmm. Actually, no, I'm not going to get into it, but wow. Maybe a quick refresher course for the refs on what consitutes hooking, slashing, and what have you. Because honestly, I don't know what the fuck the refs are seeing out there, but it's getting kinda outta control...

I am going to save a TON of money!

Guys, I'm so excited! When the Flyers lose in the first round, I won't have to pay for second round playoff tickets! No money spent on second round tickets = more money to spend on Habs stuff. This is such a win win situation!

Seriously though. I didn't expect the Flyers to win, and I did expect them to suck, but I did not expect them to suck that bad and get so badly dominated. Ouch. This team doesn't have the same heart as last year's playoff team, and I don't think they have the ability to bounce back like they did last year.

Now, last year, they lost game one in the first round and went on to win the series. But, as I just mentioned, this isn't the same team from last year. That team had momentum and was clicking and gelling and all the other things that great teams do. This team is just waiting. Waiting for what, I'm not sure. Maybe they are waiting for Upshall to come back. I dunno.

I've had some requests for my little stuffed Iceburgh to be abused, so I'll see if I can make that happen for Friday's game. Even if it doesn't help with a win, it will make us all feel better. Right? RIGHT!

Oh great, we meet the Pens again.

He really wants to be your friend!

For some reason, I was convinced that the last time we played the Pens was December 13th. I had to go back and check the blog, and it turns out we had a sucktastic loss on January 13th. I sorta blocked it out because it was such a bad game. We even left early, which is something we never do.

Anyhow, I don't know what to say about tomorrow's Flyers game. We're 1-3 against the Pens this season. That doesn't bode well. I'm not gonna post my picture of Iceburgh in the oven, because that didn't work last time. Maybe a picture of Kovalev will being the Flyers some luck? I predict 2 power play goals for Gonchar, and a bloody nose for Scott Hartnell.

I actually have good lower level seats for tomorrow's game...woohoo! Sadly, come 3pm I will be obsessively checking the Habs score.

So there's a game today or something...

Mmmmmm, baked Iceburgh...

It's hard not to get excited for a game like this. Pens are in a bit of a slump right now, but I'm sure playing against Hartnell will bring out their douchey best. Poor guy better skate like there's a target on his back.

For actual previews and whatnot, check out the usual crew:
Pensblog....undergoing construction, not sure if they will have a gameday post up or not.
Frozen Fan...nothing up yet, maybe later today.
Four Habs Fans...oh wait, that one's for me
Empty Netters...lots of great links
and of course, those crazy boyz over at FGSB. I think they eat crazy for breakfast just like Scottie Upshall

I'll be at the game of course. Any requests for pictures? I'm going to try and actually take some this time. Haha!

The Blame Game

While others are writing glowing reviews about the Flyers and their deep playoff run, I'd like to take a few minutes to point some fingers.

Who is to blame for the crap series against the Pens?

1. The Flyers marketing staff. People, "Vengeance Now" was a great playoff slogan. Other fans hated it, and hated us for it. Changing your slogan to "Why Not Us?" in the middle of a playoff run is just asking for trouble. The hockey gods couldn't resist. Who can forget the irony of the white trash looking Flyers fan and her young son standing around stunned after Game 3? Sheesh!

2. Me. Yeah I know, pretty egotistical, but I have the photographic evidence to prove it. Remember that road trip I took to the burgh back in early April? Well, I was muy impressed by the Pens store. Seriously! They had so much stuff! Every player you could imagine! And cute little stuffed animals that I could kick around. So yeah, I may have purchased some Pens stuff.

I know you won't believe me, but I've been thinking for some time that the Pens were going to win the Cup this year. And I really never thought the Flyers were gonna make the playoffs, let alone have to face the Pens in the Eastern Conference Finals. So, at the time, there seemed to be little harm in buying a few harmless souvenirs.

However, after we lost that game on April 2nd to the Pens, and struggled mightily in the last 2 games of the season, this Pens stuff got shoved away in a place and sort of forgotten. Not really though, I've always known it was there, waiting for me and taunting me.

Sorry, it's all my fault. But the marketing department really effed it up too!
